The women’s 1 team unfortunately lost 0:3 to Durham University. It was a tough match and the girls fought hard, but Durham ended up taking home the win that day.
The men’s 1 team also lost to Durham 0:3 unfortunately. They played well, coming close to winning in each set. They had strong passing, blocking, and worked together to play out-of-system quite well.
Week of October 16th
Only our Men’s 1 team played a match this week, as the Women’s 1 needed to be rescheduled.
University of Sheffield Mens 1st played our University of Edinburgh Mens 1st team and the score was: 3-0 (25-18; 25-23; 25-19). There was a good effort by an Edinburgh line-up of only 7 players. After a difficult first set, the team came back strong to a partial lead of 17-22 in the second set but, they struggled to find the few last points and eventually lost to the good plays of the Sheffield hitters. Despite a morale loss the guys still tried to fight their way back in the third set, but Sheffield managed to close the match 3-0. There was a generally positive attitude shown by the Edinburgh first team, that left expectations high for the upcoming re-match at home.
